Ladies Association and Women Empowerment Cell
College has got very active Ladies association and women empowerment cell. The cell initially started in the year 1981 as “Ladies Association” to encourage and provide a platform to girl students. Later on in the year 1997, it has been converted in to “Ladies Association and Women Empowerment Cell (WEC)” to educate and empower the girl students and women in all type of family and social welfare reforms.
The WEC of the college conducts a number of programs to create awareness about various aspects amongst girl students viz health and hygiene every year and organizes programs like counseling the deprived women, Nirmal Yojana Abhiyaana etc in the college as well as in nearby villages in collaboration with the Rural Development Foundation (RDF) of B. V. V. Sangha, Bagalkot. The cell also organizes health checkup camps both in the college and nearby villages. The cell creates awareness about self defense, legal rights and preventive methods on suicide and stress management. WEC organizes street dramas by the girl students on HIV AIDS and women empowerment. The cell organizes training programs to girl students regarding paper bag making, art of counseling, art of development in craft making, fruit and milk processing products and marketing. The cell encourages to participate in art exhibition organized by various organization like RDF and Janashikshana Samsthe of Bagalkot. The cell organizes various competitions separately for girl students as well as lady faculty of the college and celebrates International Women’s Day in the college every year enthusiastically.
